Our workshop on ‘Advanced Microfabrication Techniques for Microfluidic Devices’ was a success, with over 40 participants in attendance! 🙌 The event brought together experts from both academia and industry, providing insightful presentations on the latest innovations in the microfabrication of polymers, glass, and silicon for microfluidic devices.
Held on the 3rd of September at the Photonics Innovation Center in Gooik, Belgium, the workshop kicked off with a warm welcome and an introduction of the VortexLC project from VUB μFlow group. Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to delve into cutting-edge topics, including advanced prototyping, micro-opto-fluidics, and plasma etching, thanks to presentations from VUB B-PHOT Brussels Photonics, Joanneum Research, and NCSR "Demokritos". The discussions highlighted how new techniques are driving the acceleration of microfluidics research and manufacturing, with key contributions from Coating Plasma Innovation and Sirris Innovation Forward. Our workshop also featured an engaging presentation from LioniX International, showcasing their innovative work on Photonic Integrated Circuits using Si3N4, which sparked great interest and discussions among the participants
A big thank you to the invited industrial experts and everyone who joined us and helped make this workshop a success! 👏
The afternoon session allowed participants to take an immersive tour of the VUB B-PHOT laboratories, where they witnessed first-hand the cutting-edge research and technologies in micro-opto-fluidics. It was a truly enlightening experience, fostering networking and collaboration among all attendees.
Stay tuned for our next VortexLC event, and we look forward to seeing you next time! 😊🎉
